AttractionsBeing one of the most well established resorts on Tenerife, and in recognition of it importance to the islands tourist industry, Los Cristianos does benefit from two very good tourist information offices in the town. The first in actually built on the Playa de las Vistas beach, and can be found at:Oficinas de Informacion Turistica Playa de Las Vistas Paseo Maritimo s/n 38650 Los Cristianos Arona Tenerife Sur Telephone; +34 922 787 011 Fax: +34 922 750 444 Email: info-vistas@arona.org These offices can easily be spotted as they are directly behind the large fountain on the Playa de Las Vistas beach, and if you look very carefully you may also be able to spot the web cam that is sited on the side of the building looking west towards Playa de las Americas and the Compostela Beach area.
Somewhat harder to find for most visitors are the second offices which are in the middle of town, almost
opposite the Mobil petrol station in the Cultural Centre. Contact details are: Every Sunday morning throughout the year, Los Cristianos holds one of the biggest street markets on Tenerife. If you just follow the crowds, you'll soon end up at the eastern edge of the resort next to the Arona Gran hotel. Every person entering the market does have to run the gauntlet of innumerable timeshare touts attempting to lure you to their development with offers of free car hire, free holidays or even cash rewards. Just smile, keep walking, and say no, and they'll soon move on to the next likely candidate. Once inside the market it usually takes around 1.1/2 to 2 hours to see everything, although to secure the best bargains you will have to haggle with the traders. A couple of words of advice, do not start to negotiate if you have no intention of buying, but do not be afraid to say no and walk away if the prices do not fall to a level that you are prepared to pay for an item. Common sense we know, but still easy to forget. The beach at Los Cristianos is popular with both locals and tourists alike. The main town beach that opens on to the harbour is the location of a volleyball competition that usually takes place every Easter, when it also attracts a small number of sand sculptures. Of the two beaches, the newer Playa de las Vistas is slightly the larger, and if we are honest the water quality here is a little better too. Moving around the south west coast of Tenerife by public transport is also fairly easy for those people who do not wish to hire a car whilst they are on holiday. A very reliable bus service is operated by the Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife throughout all of island, and the local bus station, known locally as "Cristianos 1", is situated on the main road running inland from the Princesa Dacil hotel. The cost of a one way ticket to nearby Playa de las Americas is around 60p per person, with buses running every 15 -20 minutes.
